Fashion In My Place

TRIPURI CULTURE

As basically I am from one of the most beautiful north-eastern states of India,i.e.Tripura,I want to promote my traditional attire in a unique way.But also I belong from a bengali family. All over my background is a mixed cultural background,so I could experience a lot.

Despite of my own culture,I owe tripuri culture a lot. For me it’s very beautiful, gorgeous and charming. I would like to recreate something with my traditional fashion, which can equally make a place among the western trend. I would like to represent it to the entire world so that people from all over the world can understand the culture of Tripura and know it better.

So,the traditional attire of Tripura for women is Risa , Rignai and Rikutu. Risa is a small piece of embroidered cloth used to cover the chest part of the body. The Rikutu covers the upper half part of the body whereas Rignai covers the lower part of the body. This three elements make up the elegant and gorgeous attire. The traditional tripuri attire is made up of white and red coloured embroidered cloth. These clothes are woven using hand spun thread of cotton. Thus the clothes are very durable and easy to wear.

For me the traditional attire is a mix of peace and fulfilment of culture. It is very essential to preserve our extincting tradition and culture as nowadays everyone is upgrading along with fashion. So to cope up with the fast developing world,we need not to extinct our tradition but we can preserve it with some slight changes and in a different way. According to me , if someone wants to gain more unique personality, he/she should recreate what is being extincted and preserve and use it well.

So keep it in mind that “You are born unique, but the one maintaining the uniqueness is you yourself”.

THANK YOU AND LOADS OF LOVE,
